Sports Acupuncture /
Trigger Point

Think of your muscles like rubber bands.

When you train hard (sprinting, lifting, jumping, throwing) those “rubber bands” can get overworked and start feeling tight, sore, or stuck. Sometimes a small area of muscle stays tight and can even affect how the rest of your body moves.

Get Back to What You Love

What is a Trigger Point?

Trigger point = a tight muscle knot → the knot gets irritated → your brain may feel pain right there or somewhere nearby.

Referral Pain

Just because you feel pain in one spot doesn’t always mean that’s where the problem started.

Pain signals can get “sent” somewhere else—sometimes above or below the actual source.

How Does it Work?

Needle stimulates the muscle → your nervous system responds → endorphins (body's natural pain killers) are released → pain can feel less intense → your body can relax.

Shocking Results,
E-Stim (Electrical Stimulation)

Small electrical pulses are applied through the needle to gently stimulate the muscles.

It’s a simple, non-invasive way to help your body relax and recover.

How To Prepare

It’s helpful to wear loose, comfortable clothing to get to targeted areas.

Eat a light meal and hydrate more than your norm before your session to avoid feeling lightheaded.

Your body needs resources to release.

What To Expect

We will discuss and isolate which muscles need our focus and customize a treatment specifically around what your body needs that day.

As we work on those muscles, you may feel a small “jump” or twitch. That’s called a muscle fasciculation. It can happen when the muscle responds to the treatment.

You might notice the muscle suddenly relax or loosen up afterward.

This is usually where you take a sigh of relief.

The After Care

Rest. Eat. HYDRATE. Take it Easier

You may feel some soreness for a few days, similar to how you feel after a tough workout. That's expected.

Give your body the resources needed to recover. Hydrate, drink electrolytes and eat warm, nourishing foods. This is the moment for that protein packed meal.

Keep training easy for the next 2 days and let your body recover.

Your body will thank you.

If needed, use a heating pad or take an epsom salt bath.

If feeling sore for more than a week, contact us.

Frequently asked questions

Marathon Testimonial

As a tenured long-distance runner, I need care. Dr. Moore is passionate and knowledgeable, and understands mute balance an athlete needs—that of immediate integration and release, as well as ongoing care methods. He listens well, asks questions, and is both precise and thorough. Excited to say that I finally found my acupuncturist again after a few years of no luck. Highly recommend if you are an athlete of any kind.
